Description
Florence Sweet Bulbous Fennel – Heirloom Seeds / Rare seeds
Sowing: April to August
Harvest: July to November
Sowing in pots: d’ April to May, under frame or greenhouse. Start your sowing in a small terrine in seed compost, cover your seeds with 0.5 cm of seed compost, tamp down and keep moist. You can then transplant them into pots when they have 2 leaves. You can then transplant your pretty plans in their final place when they measure about 10 cm. Plant them deep. Water thoroughly. It is also possible to sow fennel directly in the ground: from mid-July to August, in line in a furrow dug with the handle of a rake, cover lightly with soil and tamp down with the back of the rake. As soon as they have 3 or 4 leaves, thin out the plants to leave only one every 20 cm, keep the best ones. Watering fennel regularly is water-intensive. As soon as the base of the fennel is rounded, hoe and butter (i.e. bring the earth back to the base). Emergence time: under frame or greenhouse: 4 or 5 days – in the ground, 6 to 10 days Soil: deep, rich and fresh Harvest after three month Tip: transplant the uprooted plants during thinning.
