Green celery to cut – Heirloom Seeds / Rare seeds

Sowing: February to May

Harvest: July to November

Sowing in pots: From March to April. Sow under frame, or greenhouse, warm (temperature above 15°C day and night). Start your sowing in a small terrine in seed compost, cover your seeds with 0.5 cm, pack and keep moist. Then transplant to 2 sheets. Seed germination can take 15 to 20 days. The final planting is done from mid-May. Cut off the ends of the leaves beforehand (dressing). Keep a minimum distance of 30 cm between plants. Direct sowing: From April to May, in a line in a furrow or on the fly, cover lightly with soil and tamp down with the back of the rake. Thin the plants every 30/40 cm as soon as they have 3 or 4 leaves, keep the most beautiful ones. Tip: transplant uprooted plants when thinning. In addition to loving water, celery likes rich, humus-rich soil. Planting can be carried out until the end of June. Harvest your celery from July to November, cut the stalks around the edges as needed. How to store celery? To keep the celery fresh for several days, soak the base of the stalks in cold salted water. You will store it in the refrigerator, wrapping the stems in a clean, damp cloth otherwise it will wilt. Store celery away from light and moisture. Celery can also be frozen. Just wash it and cut it into sections before placing it in freezer bags.
