Rustic variety from Sologne, with a round, smooth root and light yellow skin. Excellent yield and very good conservation. We participate in its preservation and reproduction by uniting our efforts with those of the URGC (Union of Genetic Resources of the Center Region), whose object is the rescue of vegetable varieties and old endangered animal breeds.

Saint Marc Yellow Turnip Cabbage – Heirloom Seeds / Rare seeds

Sowing: May to July

Harvest: September to November

Sow preferably in open ground in May-June, make lines with the handle of your rake 2 cm deep, distribute the seeds evenly, cover with 1 cm of crumbled compost, close the furrow with the rake, pack lightly, water abundantly with the head of the watering can.</ p>

Thin out when the plants have 2 true leaves, remove the weakest plants and keep a turnip every 25/30 cm.

Remember to mulch to keep the soil moist and space out weeding.

Soil maintenance: happy with some regular hoeing and weeding. Watering: in case of drought.

Harvest: from the end of summer and all winter.

Storage: Resistant to extreme cold, it is best to leave them in the ground and harvest them as you go of its needs, so the flesh will be of better quality. Kept out of the ground, the roots become woody. Before extreme cold, to prevent the soil from hardening under the effect of frost, you can mulch them or cover them with leaves. If you still prefer to harvest them, you can keep them in a box filled with sand.

This crop is very well suited to the climate of Brittany.
